Leading satcoms solutions provider changes
its name
- same commitment to delivering solutions
One of the best-known names in satellite communications solutions
will become simpler and shorter at the beginning of April
2002. Nera Satellite Services Ltd will become NSSL Ltd, with
the phrase 'satcom solutions' appearing below the distinctive
red logo, referring to NSSL's new web address www.satcom-solutions.com.
Bob Chewter, Managing Director, NSSL Ltd said: "Whilst
we were proud to use the Nera brand with its reputation for
quality satcom products, we have in the past been partly perceived
as just an equipment supplier, rather than an independent
service provider of total customer communications solutions.
We have chosen our new name and identity to display our independence,
the wide range of products available to us and our commitment
to finding the right solutions to our clients' needs."
For example, NSSL is unique in providing bespoke service contracts,
which can include:
o Airtime using quality LES's, as well as to and from mobile
o onboard satellite and radio equipment
o a single billing service for Inmarsat and other satellite
networks
o fleet-wide management of ships' electronics - satcoms and
navigation
o on-line fault reporting and service logs
o global spares and logistics management
o support on-line, by phone or on-site 24 hours a day anywhere
in the world
o IT and applications provision, systems integration and support
Mr. Chewter continued: "What sets us apart from the
many equipment and airtime resellers is our total service
offering, our system integration capabilities and the expertise
of our people. We provide a one-stop shop for airtime, equipment
and service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
"Data is the future, and now more than ever, the systems
such as Inmarsat-GAN and the soon to be launched Inmarsat
Fleet services enable customers to link their remote sites
to their corporate networks, and make use of IP applications.
The delivering of Inmarsat systems that meet client needs
requires technical knowledge, system integration skills and
ongoing support. No other service provider has the depth of
experience or technical expertise which we can bring to bear
to ensure our customers can do business wherever they need
to, anywhere in the world."
NSSL is a wholly owned subsidiary of WWMC, whose shareholders
are:
o Telenor (40%)
o Nera AS (20%)
o Arendal Fossekompani ASA (40%)
NSSL has been providing mobile satellite services on land
and at sea for over 30 years. The company has been an independent
accounting authority since 1969, and an Inmarsat service provider
since 1996. In 2000, Telenor and Arendal Fossekompani AS joined
Nera AS in NSSL's shareholding, by creating a holding company,
Worldwide Mobile Communications AS (WWMC).
This balanced shareholding by the largest Inmarsat shareholder,
the largest Inmarsat equipment manufacturer and a strong finance
company provides us with the backing to develop our business
to focus on solutions for our customers.
