NSSL offers new alternative
to VSAT - Leisure
Yacht and Cruise ship owners who want a cost-effective
solution for high-speed internet and IP applications
are now being offered a viable alternative to VSAT from
satellite communications service provider NSSL.
NSSL’s new Cruise-IP service is a broadband service
which uses the latest DVB technology to provide on-demand
data and voice services from the Caribbean, US coast,
North Atlantic and Mediterranean. Packages start at
just $1450 per month with unlimited data usage (plus
equipment costs) – significantly cheaper than
a dedicated VSAT link. The new service delivers high
quality broadband and Voice over IP and provides a more
cost effective solution for leisure and cruise vessels
that often need high data throughputs.
Sally-Anne Ray, Sales Director, NSSL,
commented: “Cruise-IP is a flexible alternative
to VSAT as it offers the same ease of use at a fraction
of the running cost. Our new service is the ideal solution
for downloading news, TV and Internet services for leisure
vessels at sea, as well as providing a high-speed link
for business use. “
“Tailored for an individual vessels
usage and size of operation, and with our local offices
in Europe and Florida, we are well positioned to provide
the service and support required for successful Broadband
IP installations. With more than 100 of the world’s
top Superyachts already using our Inmarsat services,
NSSL has the expertise, experience and track record
of integrating satellite systems with on-board networks.”
NSSL is offering three service options
– Economy, Standard and Premium – ranging
from 128kb/s – 512 kb/s from Ship (outbound),
and 512 kb/s– 2Mb/s to Ship (inbound). A Voice
over IP (VoIP) service with up to 8 dedicated voice
channels is also available.
NSSL provides global support including planning, installation,
integration, airtime billing and service support 24/7.
