FleetBroadband from NSSL

Inmarsat FleetBroadband brings the power of BGAN to the seas. It is the first global maritime communication service to provide simultaneous voice and high speed data services through a ‘always on' connectivity, up to 432kbps.

Capabilities:

• Standard IP – Up to 432kbps over a shared channel, for e-mail, internet and intranet access
• Streaming IP – Guaranteed data rates on demand up to 256kbps
• Voice –Standard 4kbps and premium 3.1kHz audio voice services
• ISDN – Supports ISDN at 64kbps for legacy applications
• SMS text – Send and receive text messages.

Coverage:

Following the successful launch of the third Inmarsat-4 satellite in 2008, FleetBroadband will be available globally, excepting the extreme polar regions. At service launch, it will be available in the Indian and Atlantic ocean regions.

Two types of terminal are available, with different performance capabilities and size:
